Configure your Internet Server Security

Welcome to the Configure you Internet Security wizard for Windows 2000. The purpose of this tool is help you create a secure Web server without having to configure registry settings, IPSec policy and service control manager details.

The Process of Creating a Security Template
Creating a Web security template is very easy, all you do is:

  1. Select Build a Security Template
  2. Check all the options you wish to support
  3. Enter the name of the template file
  4. Press Create Template

The Process of Deploying a Security Template
To deploy, or process a security template is:

  1. Review the included Security Configuration Editor Template (hisecweb.inf) and make any modifications to the template you see fit. You may review and modify the template using the Security Templates tool.
  2. Run the Windows Script Host file called IISConfig.cmd
  3. Optionally, provide the name of the server you wish to deploy the security policy. The local computer is assumed if you do not provide a server name.
  4. Optionally, provide the name of the security template provided in the step (3) above. The default is to save the file into the Engine directory as IISTemplate.txt.
