PC-cillin displays different warnings to announce
different kinds of threats. For example, the Suspicious Software
Alarm System will show a warning upon detecting unusual changes
made to your computer. If you enable Protection Against Phishing,
a warning appears whenever you try to open a Web site that exhibits
characteristics associated with phishing scams.
The color of
the warning window and icon indicates the severity of the threat:
Red warnings
indicate a serious danger. These warnings need your immediate
attention. Take the recommended action immediately.
Yellow warnings
serve to caution you about suspicious changes made to your
computer, or other potential risks. Your responses to these
warnings help improve the overall accuracy of your protection
system.
Blue warnings
provide confirmations of actions successfully taken, as well
as friendly reminders.
To disable or reduce the number of blue
warnings you receive, click Other Settings on
the main console and then click the Settings... button
under Notification and Tutorial Preferences.
A link in the red and yellow ones opens instructions to disable
that particular warning.
