A red icon () beside Protection Status, Last Scan, Last Update, or Subscription indicates that you need to boost your protection. A bigger also appears on top of the icon at the top of the summary to get your attention.

• If you see beside Protection Status, click Virus & Spyware Controls. Click the OFF icon beside the Protection Against Viruses header to switch it ON.
  
  If your Protection Status is "Incomplete," click the "View Details" link to see which Recommended Settings you should enable. You can then find those settings using the the navigation buttons on the left side of the console.

• If you see beside Last Scan, click Scan Now below the Status Summary Area.
  

• If you see beside Last Update, click Update Now below the Status Summary Area.
  

• If you see beside Subscription, then you can no longer receive the latest updates to further strengthen your protection. Your computer may suffer damage from spyware and viruses without these free updates.
  Click (or Register Now) and follow the instructions to renew your subscription immediately.

If does not appear beside any of the four status indicators, then a big green check appears on the icon at the top of the summary section.
